Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Welcome to another episode of The Coach’s Circle Podcast!
Our show is all about showing you everything the world of coaching has to offer–what it is, what it isn’t, and whether it might be the right career choice for you.
Through our conversations with professionals in a variety of different mental health and wellness fields, you’ll gain valuable, real-world insight into their careers and consider how their experiences might impact your own career choices. Our interviews will feature coaches, therapists, counselors, personal trainers, and other professionals who incorporate coaching into their practices. Our hope is that these varied perspectives will help you come to understand exactly the type of coach you were meant to be.
Today’s special guest is Benjamin Russack, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Francisco, California.
- How a job as a chess instructor first intrigued Benjamin in psychology and personal growth
- Why Benjamin keeps his therapy approach open and varied depending on his clients
- Benjamin’s personal connection with eating disorders and how it influenced his choice of niche
- How Benjamin distinguishes between coaching and therapy
“Maintain your notes. If you forget something, and your client’s mother’s committed suicide when they were 17 and you forgot because you didn’t take notes, you’re going to really piss that patient off. Keep up your notes and review your notes before each session. I implore you, please do that. I know it seems trite and easy, but you will be glad you did.”
